Reconstruction of Bloemendalstraat in Vaals Sjwats Jris

In late 2017, we were commissioned by the municipality of Vaals to renovate the Bloemendalstraat Sjwats Jris,

in a project consisting of the complete renovation of the entire substructure and superstructure. In several places, the sewage system was replaced at a depth of 4.00 m. Much of the work done above ground consisted of replacing natural stone pavement. As the street was also home to Bloemendal castle, the streetscape had a largely classic look and feel, featuring a combination of asphalt, concrete pavers and natural stone pavement. All natural stone pavement was entirely reused.

The scope of the work in figures:

  • 6000m3 groundworks
  • 1500m1 sewerage
  • 6500m2 foundations
  • 1000 tonnes of asphalt
  • 5500m2 paving
  • Vaals
  • Municipality of Vaals

Streetscape with a classic look & feel

The project area was home to a hotel housed in an old castle as well as several institutions. As such, it was a major challenge to complete this project whilst ensuring that all these various stakeholders remained accessible. In order to steer this in the right direction, one of our employees served as a location manager to liaise with local residents and to optimally coordinate our work with third-party interests.

Van Boekel Bouw & Infra changed its course a few years ago, shifting our focus to multidisciplinary concrete projects in the civil and non-residential construction sectors. We started to emphasise Best Value Procurement (BVP) projects, which enabled us to escape the low-cost market. This change of course has netted Van Boekel Bouw & Infra new clients, whilst enabling us to specialise in new types of projects and contracts, such as UAV-gc, and expanding our work area in the Netherlands and abroad.  Our organisation and employees worked hard to make this transition into a success, focusing on acquiring new clients and completing new projects.
