Velp, Bronkhorstweg – Municipality of Grave

In mid-April 2020, the Bronkhorstweg in Velp was resurfaced with a new layer of asphalt, marking the final stage of the reconstruction of the village centre. Since May 2019, Van Boekel Regionaal had worked on installing a separate sewer system and connecting local homes to the new system here. At the outskirts of the village of Velp, we built an additional storm drainage system, including all sorts of additional work carried out at the same time. The project was delivered in mid-May, without any snags worth mentioning.

The power of chain cooperation

The project

Van Boekel was contracted for the reconstruction of the Bronkhorstweg in Velp based on a RAW scope statement with a MEAT component. Our MEAT plan received top marks and, combined with our CO2 performance ladder certification (level 5), landed us this project. The work consisted of:

  • Excavating and removing all waste and soil flows
  • Applying asphalt pavement with a total of 2,000 tons of asphalt;
  • Installing 150 drain covers and gulleys
  • 800 metres of storm sewers with a diameter of 600 mm
  • Coordinating utilities and public transport installations
  • Liaising with local residents

Together with the client, our team faced and tackled various challenges, and looking back, we are very proud of the end result.

On top of that, the team thoroughly enjoyed working with the locals, with “our boys” being treated with soup, sausage rolls and cake on several occasions. With this kind of cooperation – with the client, locals and Van Boekel Regionaal – you cannot help but be proud of the end result.

Van Boekel Bouw & Infra changed its course a few years ago, shifting our focus to multidisciplinary concrete projects in the civil and non-residential construction sectors. We started to emphasise Best Value Procurement (BVP) projects, which enabled us to escape the low-cost market. This change of course has netted Van Boekel Bouw & Infra new clients, whilst enabling us to specialise in new types of projects and contracts, such as UAV-gc, and expanding our work area in the Netherlands and abroad.  Our organisation and employees worked hard to make this transition into a success, focusing on acquiring new clients and completing new projects.
