Screw pumping station – Grave
As a partner of Van der Linden Pomptechniek, Van Boekel Regionaal installed a concrete pit in Grave for a new screw pumping station. The existing pumping station had high maintenance costs and was very susceptible to failure, but there was only a limited budget available for solving these problems. That is why the municipality of Grave, Van der Linden Pomptechniek and Van Boekel Regionaal devised the following solution.
During the preparation phase, it turned out that the location was home to many underground cables and pipes and various fibre-optic cable bores, which resulted in a very cramped construction pit with very little space.
We started on the preparatory work in September, which included installing 2 deep wells to lower the groundwater level (approx. 4 metres). We subsequently moved the cables and pipes and installed the trench box along with the shoring.
We then installed the 26-tonne concrete base, before mounting and fixing the screw.
Ultimately, it only took the municipality of Grave, Van der Linden Pomptechniek and Van Boekel Regionaal 3 weeks to get this job done. Deliberate, Discuss and Do were certainly key words in this project.
