Reconstruction of Kapellenplatz and Johannes-Stalenus-Platz in Kevelaer
Van Boekel GmbH has been commissioned to update the sewerage and pavements in the heart of the historical centre of Kevelaer, the German pligrimage site.
Because this busy pligrimage site honouring Mary needs to remain accessible to the public at all times, we have developed a complex planning schedule to keep inconvenience to the area and its visitors to a minimum.
The existing road surface will be lifted and replaced again after the installation of new utility and sewerage provisions. It was decided to reuse the natural stone paving to preserve the characteristic image.
Walkways of sawn natural stone will be constructed in the natural stone paving to make it more accessible to the disabled.
The lighting around the Chapel of Grace, the Candle Chapel and the Basilica is completely in keeping with the image of the square and partly determines it. The existing lighting is therefore being dismantled and restored.
